Dear Jim (and the group),
The DXDash Logger system (in operation for VHF
contests [mostly Sprints]) since last falltime uses
the Internet today, but has developed a protocol that
would make using the existing APRS network trivial for
reporting scores to a central MySQL database for
parsing and web display. The advantage is that it
would allow even rovers to submit scores while
in-transit.

Since it is VHF related you may have never heard about
it. Just FYI.
