In this scenario, you would not have requested that the individual go and
look for VE8 for you. If the guy was in your shack, you would have something
to do with it.
In this case, he did it of his own will, without you arranging for it.
If what you said was true - someone, without my permission, can change my
entry category simply by telling me some information over the air? No, I'm
sorry your interpretation is not correct.
If you work someone and you say, "can you go find me VE8 and come back here
and tell me where to find him" that would be the same as being assisted.
This is just like putting out on packet that you need a mult.

assisted, just the same if he were in your shack on a second radio and
yelled it across the room.
