[CQ-Contest] WPX , "Assisted" and "DX Alerting"

Here's an interesting tidbit from the WPX rules:

ALL HIGH or SINGLE-OPASSISTED
ALL LOW): Same as 1(a) except
the passive use (no self-spotting) of DX spotting
nets or other forms of DX alerting is permitted.
Stations in this category will compete
only with other Assisted stations.
</QUOTE>

Note the use of "DX". 
So, in WPX, as long as I use "DX" spots I am
"Assisted", but if I, 
being stateside, glean a new US prefix, I am not?

After all this food for thought I think I'll get sick
now.  ;-)
