Mike's SNS idea has a great future . . it's more clever than meets the eye . . .

-- For NSL II and NSL III, I tried to get participants to slow down for the first 10 mins. Not a good idea -- many squawks as the NSL competition intesified. During the early weeks of NSL IV, Mike noted to me his disappointment at the high speed barrier for newcomers .

-- Our discussion produced the idea for Slow NS preceeding the regular NS Ladder. It works very well because the seasoned NSr's

-- Use it as a warm up
-- Use it to feel out band conditions
-- Have a few minutes break to correct any problems that are evident during SNS.

-- Since SNS is non-competitive, the idea of slower speed doesn't raise any issues, and newcomers feel more comfortable with this type of entry into NS LAdder.

Mike's willingness to take this effort is exemplary of true contesting spirit.
