[CQ-Contest] Improving Concentration

Hey, Pete!
I may as well throw in my two cents here. I've made a habit of posting a
small note with the letters "DB" on it. DB stands for "Do Better", just a
reminder of where I need to improve. I'll put one on the edge of my monitor by
the bandmap to remind me to check for unworked stations. I'll put one on the
second radio to remind me to keep checking it for new mults, etc.
I've even vowed to carry this practice over into the rest of my life as a
New Year's resolution. If I don't think about it my clothes closet becomes a
mess. A DB note in the closet reminds me to do better. I'm also notoriously
bad about not taking my daily meds, a DB note is just a convenient reminder.
It helps to take a step back and see where you need to do better. I've
found that recording the contest helps immensely in finding flaws in my operating
style. During those long gaps between QSOs, it makes you realize what other
things you might do to up the rate. Listening to Randy's recordings on the
web is a real inspiration!
Anyway, here's wishing you many DBs in 2007!
Paul, K5AF
