You're quite right, John. If cut numbers are to be used, then they must be
standardized. And they really should not be used for the vital part of a
contest exchange; leading zeros excluded. 5NN is fine. T123 is fine but ATNE
for a serial "number" is not.
Unless EVERYONE does it.
