[CQ-Contest] ARRL "endorses" cut numbers

Gents,

Don't you think that logging cut numbers the way they sound, like 5NN, is 
not quite correct? And it's even worse to discuss it on this estemeed forum.

The reality is, there are two ways to transmit the number 9, as _ _ _ _ . , 
as well as just _ .   to make it shorter in some cases. Again, these are not 
more not less than just two different ways to transmit the number 9. It was 
not intended by anybody to send any letter in this case. The fact that the 
letter N and the shortened 9 sound similar can be considered as just a 
coinsinence.

As soon as everybody starts using this approach, a lot of things will be 
easier. IMO.
