Ken et al: That is fine except that is not what the rule says. It was
unfortunate between this exact same time last year and this year someone at
the ARRL didn't rewrite/modify, or explain, the rule. As a result of the
ARRL doing nothing the same problem rears its ugly head again and will
continue every year. The rule is very self explanatory as it stands right
now. Those of you who are trying to play Bill Clinton and defining the what
the meaning of if is,,is,, need to get over yourselves.
Lastly this alleged problem applies to probably less than 50 stations and of
those 50 stations I venture 95% of them get it right. I don't know how many
members there are of this mailing list but I suspect the overwhelming
majority are probably tired of this year after year. I know I blew a fuse
when I saw AD1C's suggestion.
The rule is very clear, if it needs modification the ARRL will
change/modify, or explain, it. Most Jr. Colleges teach reading comprehension
for the 5 or 6 guys who apparently need it.
I'm sorry to let my 'charming' personality sneak out but this subject gets
really old year after year.
Very Best 73

Subject: [CQ-Contest] Ck in ARRL SS
Kelly VE4XT summarized it ....
The explanation from the League last year is essentially in line with what
Bob, W5OV, said: choose two digits. Use the last two digits of the year you
were licensed if you choose. Use the SAME digits the entire contest. Log
those digits. Aside from that, DON'T SWEAT IT.
This item is on our list of things to work on before 2008 SS. All the
observations/opinions have been noted and will be considered. Thanks.
