[CQ-Contest] TQP vs CQ RTTY - BLUNT

Riley Hollingsworth was blunt during his recent lecture... It boiled down to:
'Turn on your radio. If you don't like what you hear change frequency or change bands. Still don't like what you hear? Turn the radio off and do something else.'

This is as clear a set of marching orders as you can get - and directly from the attorney who represents the FCC in enforcing regulations in the amateur service...

Now, it is fine for us on this forum to discuss the issues of contests in different modes being on at the same time... And maybe even, the sponsors of one or more contests will change the times, or the suggested frequencies for THEIR contest because of these discussions - or maybe not...
But it doesn't matter because unintentional interference HAS to be tolerated in the amateur bands - else your only option is to turn your radio off...

Whining about this or that contest has always been there, or conversely, whining that this or that contest is brand new, is a waste of breath... Riley was clear that it is first come first served on any band or frequency, and 'that contest has been on that weekend since 1912' is meaningless... So, those who stand and whine, 'but we have always been on that weekend' or 'we always use that frequency' are <bluntly> idiots and incapable of understanding what the FCC is clearly saying...
