Hi all,
Didn't this start with the actions of one station that Rick, K6VVA tried in
vain to work?

Are we going to toss the whole flavour of a contest over the action of one
station?

With all due respect, this just dumbs down the contest and makes it less
interesting.  While also making it more complicated to work casual stations.

Copying powers is part of the charm of the ARRL DX contest. I like having a
QRP guy send 005 and see that he is S7 on the meter.  I also like figuring
out some of the powers that guys send.

What makes me crazy in ARRL DX Contest is all the guys that send 599K every
QSO.  You have to sit there and wait for them to send their call to know who
they are.  I love the guys that apply a little creativity and send powers
like 220 or 333 or something.  You know who they are.  Under your proposal,
the majority of stations would be sending the letter SO.  How boring is
that?

If we go with entry category, what do you do when some Sunday afternoon
African shows up and wants to work you.  Ask him for his category?  Everyone
can be coaxed into telling you their power, even if they don't speak
English.

Rules proposals should always consider both modes of the contest and not
just one.  The goal is to exchange information.  Just because some people
have trouble copying and some people have trouble sending, does not mean the
exchange should be changed.
