[CQ-Contest] Band pass filters

Huh? How is the Dunestar "smarter" than the ICE?

I've found the ICE units to be more reliable, especially less prone to abuse
damage by improper impedances, ie. high voltage damage. ICE uses silver
mica capacitors rather than ceramic discs. Ceramic discs, which are much
less expensive, have a much looser tolerance, making it harder to repair by
just replacing with random caps of the same marked value.

The ICE units can also be used manually without a band decoder since they
have a built-in band switch and indicators. Either requires a 12 volt
supply to run the relays. Last time I checked I think the ICE's were a bit
less expensive.

I will say that Dunestar customer support in the distant past has been
extremely good. ICE is also great IF you can get them on the phone.

Hi Tim

I recommend to use Dunestar Model-600 also as Dave reported.
http://www.dunestar.com/model600.htm
I've used a pair of 600's for my SO2R/M2 operation with automatic
band change control.
I have ICE multi band filter but Model 600 is much smarter.
