Hi Randy,
I'm not a lawyer and don't even play one on TV... This
is my suggestion for defining the SO categories.
Perhaps renaming the categories SO Bare Bones and SO
High Tech might eliminate some of the holdouts one way
or another... Honestly, I think the whole debate is
rather semantical.
I can see arguments both ways, allowing skimmer for
all SO categories. Skimmer may help me not to copy
A61HZ when it is really AB1HZ, but to my way of
thinking that is assistance. Even with SCP, one still
has to copy the other station correctly.
Anyway, here's my wording:
2.1.Single Operator: One person performs all
transmitting, receiving, and logging functions as well
as equipment and antenna adjustments.
2.1.1.Use of spotting assistance (including band
mapping hardware and/or software that provides call
and/or exchange information) or nets (operating
arrangements involving other individuals, DX-alerting
nets, packet, Internet, etc) is not permitted.
******************************************************
2.2.Single Operator Assisted: One person performs all
transmitting, receiving, and logging functions as well
as equipment and antenna adjustments.
2.2.1.Use of spotting assistance (including band
mapping hardware and/or software that provides call
and/or exchange information) or nets (operating
arrangements involving other individuals, DX-alerting
nets, packet, etc) not physically located at the
station is permitted.
