[CQ-Contest] Why Are European Contesters Younger?

Another speculation --

It's my understanding that contesting clubs are more widespread in 
Europe. The end result is a lot more opportunity for young hams to 
participate, and get hooked, on contesting without having to construct 
their own stations from limited resources.
