Since we're on the subject of youth and contesting, please take a moment
to pass this to any young ham, a parent of a young ham or post in your
next club publication.

Once again we are sponsoring one young ham operator (21 or under) to
join our team and receive an all expense paid trip to operate in the
2009 CQWW SSB or CW contest with the 6Y1V team. You can reside in any
country in the world and be considered for this opportunity provided you
hold a valid amateur radio license in your country.

This is a gift to a young ham who has a passion for Ham Radio and
DX'ing/contesting. It is our way of giving something back to this great
hobby that has given so much to us!

To qualify, you must send an email to contest at 6y1v.com containing an
essay of 500 words or more, in English, describing how you got started
in ham radio, who guided you through the process (tell us about your
Elmer), and tell us why you should be selected for this DX/contest
opportunity. Please include your full name, call sign and home address.

We are looking for a young ham (21 or under), with some DX/contest
experience, that would consider this opportunity a dream come true! You
must have your parent's written permission to make the trip on your own,
or they may join you, at their own expense.

We will continue to take applications from young hams until September
30, 2009. Our team will review all applicants for the young ham position
and select one young ham to join us for this exciting DXpedition and
contest opportunity.

We will pay all expenses for the young ham, including airfare, license
fees, QTH rental share and food. The rest of the 6Y1V team will ensure
this is the most memorable ham radio experience ever!

The selection process is based soley upon each young hams written essay
of 500 words or more.

We are particularly interested in young hams that have never operated
outside of their home country, have never been on any DXpedition and
would not otherwise have opportunity to do so under any other
circumstances.
