Technically, they wish to lay claim to a 3 kHz slice of spectrum from
14.300 to 14.303 MHz which is truly unprecedented. I've checked into
the various Kansas section nets for years and it is not unusual to have
the NCS slide the net a bit to one side of the published frequency or
the other. Some stations do have a difficult time when the NCS is "off
frequency". It sometimes makes me wonder if those operators truly
understand VFO operation. Any net participant should be prepared to
find NCS "off frequency" or at the published frequency +/- QRM. Then
there are the NCS and net stations who seem to have 6 kHz filters and
nothing more narrow. Sigh...

The "channel" mentality belongs in other services, not amateur radio,
repeaters not withstanding.
