[CQ-Contest] Self spotting rationale

Last IOTA weekend I operated mixed after a long time and on SSB asked a
friend I work often on CW/RTTY to spot me CQ-ing and felt bad afterwards!

 

I also feel bad about EU VHF habit of self spotting emphasizing beaming
direction.  They do most of the scheduling now via mobile phones and
specialised chat rooms.

 

I support K0RC proposal to abandon self spotting rule in these days of
Skimmer technology.  Slowly turning VFO dial knob is not much of the art
these PC days!
