This brings back fond memories....

I can remember hearing callsigns ssb or cw in the rushing water after
flushing the toilet. 

Turn down the volume is also my only suggestion.

Turn down your transmit sidetone to minimum level (or even off completely).
That gives you a little more "quiet" time throughout the contest.
