We have begun to receive pre-registrations for the Xtreme
category...as a reminder, entrants are required to pre-register for
this category a week before the contest...the SSB contest starts in 10
days.

Pre-registrations (and any questions) should be sent to xtreme at cqww.com

Please refer to www.cqww.com for the rules for this new "almost
anything goes" category, aimed at encouraging integration of
Web/Internet technologies with contesting. Remote stations, multi-site
stations (all transmitters must be within the same country and zone),
Skimmers, remote receivers, are all allowed in this category.

Please be advised that three rules clarifications have been made since
the initial announcement:

1. Self-spotting in any form is NOT permitted.

2. Scores for Xtreme entries DO count for the club competition. While
the Xtreme entrants compete with each other in a special two-part
scoring system (max points = 200), the full computed CQWW score (QSO
points times band-multipliers) will count towards the club score.
Multiop Xtreme scores with operators and/or stations in multiple
locations will be treated as DXpeditions, with the score divided among
the operators' clubs as usual.

3. Please include this line in your Cabrillo log -

CATEGORY-OVERLAY: XTREME

There is also a mailing list for discussions of this category,
including rules clarifications, etc. You can subscribe to this list
at:

The John Kanzius, K3TUP Memorial Plaques will be awarded to the
winners in the single-op and multi-op Xtreme categories. Xtreme
entries will be judged on both CQWW score and level of innovation and
technology used. Thanks to K3LR for sponsoring these awards.

73 and good luck!

CQWW Xtreme Category Manager
