The lawsuit involving Don Miller and ARRL took place almost 40 years ago, so the chances are that something else of much more significance will take place for you to get depressed over before the next such suit.

Having said that, I have to take a little bit of issue with your suggestion that a lawuit of this type would represent a sign of lack of civility in ham radio.  While such things are certainly undesirable, in general, the civil legal system is exactly how disputes are settled in advanced societies without violence.  The alternatives are guns and bombs.
