Hi Folks-

This Sunday, December 19 will be the first CW ARRL Rookie Roundup. This
is a contest designed for those licensed three years or less. It runs
from 1800z through 2359z.

If you're a fan of CW, I'm asking you to please take some time to get on
and work the Rookies, or host a Rookie at your station. These are
operators that are new to radio, contesting, and very likely CW as well.
Many Old Timers got on and worked newbies (such as myself) during the
ARRL Novice Roundup for decades; now the baton has been passed, and the
opportunity for the Novices of the past generation to give back to the
current generation of Amateurs is upon us.

Single-op only, 100w power limit, use of spotting networks is allowed.
No self-spotting.

No need for computer interfaces to send CW at 40 WPM here; grab your
paddle or straight key, slow down (QRS) and enjoy the QSOs. Put yourself
in their shoes: remember what your first CW QSOs were like. Be generous.
Think of it as a nice warm-up for Straight Key Night.

As with the NR, Old Timers that work the Rookies are not eligible for
competition, but will be recognized in the final results.

Complete rules, information on logging, score summary reporting and
other information can be found on the Rookie Roundup page at:

Thanks for your time.
