I am four miles west of the edge of Great Bay, an Atlantic Ocean inlet. Can I run a ground wire there to get the salt water effect, or do I need to go another three miles, across the bay to the actual ocean? Calling all technical gurus!

I like 3/4-inch tinned copper braid, myself. If it would hold up in salt water, which I doubt, The Wireman has bargain prices on it for thousand-foot quantites. 90 cents a foot. So a four-mile run to the bay would run me only $19,000. The seven-mile run to the open ocean would set me back $33,264. Both seem a little steep but cheaper than buying land on the beach.
