[CQ-Contest] Power Line & Switching station noise?

I live right under some 115kV distribution lines, and less than .1 mile from a switching substation. Although I occasionally have problems with noise, I'm actually surprised I survive as well as I do. So far (only 26 years) all my problems have been with standard low-voltage stuff, like the transformer/pole that actually powers my house. An important note is that around here all the supports are wood poles. I know of other hams living near high tension wires that are supported on metal towers; these corrode and the result is horrendous, unsolvable noise.

I can't say if the place you're considering will be quiet or not. I just know it's possible.
