Jim has got the right idea here.

I think we take ourselves and the contesting part of the hobby a bit too 
seriously at times.  I contest for fun.  Winning is fun but if we all 
did it solely to win there would sure be a bunch of unhappy participants 
each and every contest.

Competition is a good thing.  It created new innovations, skills etc.  
Open up the logs, UBN, whatever.  Once I send my log in I am on to the 
next adventure.  When the UBN's are posted I look at them and move on as 
there is no going back.  Hopefully in the 3 to 6 month since I have 
improved so I am not sure what it really tells me anyway.
