Yo to the 160M World,
That is not just any static you're tuning through and vigorously
cursing . It is 160M static! It hides nocturnal signals
that you must find. Sometimes it is easy because you have hardware and goo
and it is all reciprocal. Sometimes it is very difficult
because all good things of value are difficult at times. One of the best
reasons to go static surfing is coming up Dec. 17/18.
This 24 hour period does not belong to Jack Bauer. It belongs to all of the
participants of the 16th running of The Stew Perry
TopBand Challenge sponsored by The Boring Amateur Radio Club. Operate 14
hours out of the 24 like Jack would and
you'll probably win a plaque!
The rules will amaze and perhaps stupefy you as they reflect the
fairest radio competition framework in the Universe.
Cruise your browser to: http://jzap.com/k7rat/stew.html
and appreciate for yourselves the simple but effective rules that govern
playing in The Stew.
Another stupefying facet of this long wave experience is that the
participants decide what plaques should be given for heroic
efforts riding the static. No predetermined categories will be allowed.
They must come from the static combatants who know best
what category should be sponsored. The list below shows these Contesting
stalwarts who have sent $55 to The Boring Amateur
Radio Club and offered up a prize to be fought over by the QSB bandits who
will plunder the static to make The Q.

working S. Hemisphere stations"
(Winner gets official Flying Doctors of VK Baseball hat rather
than plaque)

You can join this illustrious group! Email me with your non-crass
category and $55 later you'll be a part of
history. The plaques have been all sent out for last year. If you won a
plaque and haven't received it yet, then
immediately arrest your postman as he has stolen a very beautiful work of
Radio Art.
Put up your Beverage. Put down your BOG. String over the neighbor's
lawn your wire and get ready to participate
in the Stew Perry TopBand Extravaganza. No experience is necessary but it
would be good to know CW a little bit as this is
a CW contest only. You have less than 2 weeks to prepare, so get to it!
     73 and I remain,
