MFJ makes a commercial version of the sniffer that was in QST several years 
ago.  Uses the 135 mhz AM air band.  They have two models but I suggest the 
one with a 3 el beam.  I plan on replacing my old homebrew sniffer that does 
not work any more.  I borrowed one last year and it works much better than 
the QST homebrew version.

MFJ will sell overseas and HRO does too.

MFJ-856  with 3 el beam and air band all on a stick with handle  $159.95 
USD.

MFJ-852  uses a dipole.  $119.95 can be up graded later with the beam.

Has a meter to indicate strength and at 135 mhz if its loud you are near the 
source.
