I've had Sennheiser HD280's for 2-3 years. Ever since I tired of DSP
noise cancelling types. I wanted comfort and significant passive
noise reduction. The Sennheiser has been great and I even adapted my Heil
boom to it for those occasional and rare instances that SSB is needed.
With 30dB+ of passive noise reduction, even the fan noise from the
amplifier (when I use that) doesn't bother me. I just wore them through
the CQWW weekend. One additional advantage - every thing is
replaceable. Even the cord. Alas, the wife has a harder time getting
my attention.
I've even used them to listen to my mp3 player while on my riding
lawn mower.   (I ain't proud)    :>)
I do miss the phase reversal some of the Heils used to have.
Can't speak to Sony though I am sure it's a fine set.
cheers
dink, n7wa

Subject: [CQ-Contest] Headphones for CW

I have tried all sorts of different headphones for CW work, some good, some not so good.
Lately I have tried a good pair of Sennheiser "earbud" type. Good sound, worked very well but I found them uncomfortable after a while. I gave them to my grandson and he loves them for use with his iPod.
So, the search is on and at the moment I am considering the Sennheiser HD280 or the Sony MDR7506. I am leaning towards the Sony.
So, comments, suggestions, recommendations from the masses?
Cheers, Graham ve3gtc
