[CQ-Contest] Can a call be too short?

Hi,
 
For a brief while I was W1GTI and I don't have enough fingers, toes or any  
other appendages to count the number of times that got mangled, usually to  
W1GTE.  As soon as I could I upgraded to Extra and got the non-vanity  call 
AB1J, Alpha Bravo One Juliette, otherwise known on phone as Alpha Bravo One 
 Quebec and on CW as A61J.
 
I like my call but I can't win.
