[CQ-Contest] Why is NAQP this weekend?

What is the wisdom of having the NAQP the same weekend as the January VHF
contest, given that the ARRL more or less sponsors both contests?  It would
seem that moving it to the following weekend would make more sense, since
the CQ160 contest is sponsored by a different organization, uses a
different mode, and the effective overlap between contests would be 5 or 6
hours, instead of 11.
