I'd personally love to have two or more towers for my QTH and not have so
much the coupled energy. There are others using the C31XR with individual
feed lines like myself. Then there are a number of guys using antenna
combiners and appropriate band pass filters with their single feed line
tribanders. In my own situation the 125w of back fed power has been knocked
down to a safe level for the K3 and I honestly don't hear a thing when I am
working either side of the 20/15m band combination. The other C31XR band
combinations are fine too except the expected 14/28mhz harmonic being a
spot that I need to work around. In my case crudely made / placed stubs
were enough to provide a finishing touch to the W3NQN BPFs.
My 40m TX to 20M RX combination is a different story. I need to further
work on providing attenuation on that band combination. The 12 foot spacing
of my two element shorty 40 and the 20m driver on the C31XR does not couple
as much power, but I have an annoying level of interference. I may add
another stub on 20M to see if that helps matters.
I have found that I have something foreign to my station that is rectifying
my 20M signal and creating enough 10M energy to raise my noise floor by
over 20dB. This is direction specific and no amount of filtering will help
me. I have to track down the offending source and fix it, assuming it is
something I have access to.
I have yet to learn if anyone in the United States is running high power
with a triplexor doing SO2R or Multi-Op? I know Ranko has appropriate
hardware on the market for this, but I suspect most guys just put up
multiple towers.
I take the coupled power risks involved with the single boom interlaced
monobander because I want to be competitive in domestic contests. The
backyard is only 30 feet deep and 75 feet wide. I only deal with high winds
out here, but they come in during contest season and for that I cannot
overload the tower beyond what I have now. So the only answer in my mind is
to participate in threads like this to continue learning from others and
possibly find better ways to maximize hardware performance.
