[CQ-Contest] WPX 10 min rule for MS - survey

My memory must be too long.

>From the beginning until year 2000, the Multi-Single rule for WPX was:

2. Multi-Operator

(a) Single-Transmitter: Only one transmitter and one band permitted during the same time period (defined as 10 minutes).

There was no second multiplier station. That started in 2001.

The problem with a category called multi-single that allows a second multiplier station is that it is no longer multi-single. It is more like multi-1.5 or multi-two. This is great fun for the guys with big stations that can do multi-two, but not so easy for the guys who can only have one station on the air at a time.

Of course, we now see that even a single band is not enough of a limit because the big guys all use multiple transmitters on one band. The original purpose of the category – too have a limit of one station with more than one operator – has been distorted.

I notice that those doing most of the complaining are from the big stations that could do multi-two, but do not want to move up to the higher level of competition. But, maybe I am not understanding this correctly.

(a) Single-Transmitter (MULTI-ONE): Only one transmitter and one band permitted during the same time period (defined as 10 minutes). Exception: One other band may be used during any 10-minute period if the station worked is a new multiplier. Use a separate serial number sequence for each band. Logs found in violation of the 10-minute rule will be automatically reclassified as multi-multi. Maximum power allowed is 1500 watts total output. Your log MUST show the correct serial number sent and received for each contact........
