WRTC2014 Accepting Applications for Team Leaders
WRTC2014, Inc., host of the 2014 World Radiosport Team Championship (WRTC)
is pleased to announce that the application process for individuals that
would like to participate in WRTC2014 as a Team Leader is now open. Team
Leader applications must be submitted no later than September 13, 2013.
WRTC is a competition among two-operator teams. A total of 54 Team Leaders
will be selected from the top qualifiers in 29 regions from around the
world. Each Team Leader then selects their teammate for the competition.
The Team Leader qualification formula consists of 12 scores selected from 55
qualifying events between October 2010 and March 2013. Full details of the
qualification process can be seen at
http://www.wrtc2014.org/qualifying/team-selection/ .
WRTC2014 Chairman Doug Grant, K1DG, announced, "With the publication of the
results from the final qualifying event, we are ready to open the competitor
application process. It will be exciting to see who earns a place in the
competition."
Team Leaders must apply no later than September 13, 2013 to be eligible for
WRTC2014. The application form can be found on the WRTC2014 web site at
http://www.wrtc2014.org/qualifying/team-leader-application/.
Dan Street, K1TO, is leading the competitor selection process. "All aspiring
Team Leaders must apply using the application form on the WRTC-2014 web
site." Dan also offers this reminder, "We encourage all of those with high
rankings to apply because it is possible that some of those with higher
scores in your Selection Area may choose not to apply. We will select two
Wild Card Team Leaders from those applications that did not earn a spot as a
Team Leader."
Dan has been tracking the scores reported in the qualifying events. The 55
qualifying events included 30,814 operators who produced 141,787 scores! The
Qualification standings for all regions and qualifying events can be found
at http://www.wrtc2014.org/qualifying/qualification-standings/ .
In addition to the regional qualifying, there is also a slot dedicated to a
contest team with both members less than 25 years old before July 2014.
Those interested in being considered for the Youth Team must follow the Team
Leader application process.
Announcement of the Team Leaders is scheduled by the end of September.
Anyone that does not apply by the deadline will not be considered.
There are only 11 months remaining until WRTC2014! For all questions related
to WRTC2014 competitor applications, please send e-mail to
teamleader at wrtc2014.org.
About WRTC2014
The World Radiosport Team Championship (WRTC) is held every four years and
consists of 50+ two-person teams of amateur radio operators from around the
world competing in a test of operating skill. Unlike most on-the-air
competitions, all stations are required to use identical antennas from the
same geographic region, eliminating all variables except operating ability.
Previous WRTCs have been held in Seattle (1990), San Francisco (1996),
Slovenia (2000), Finland (2002), Brazil (2006), and Russia (2010). More
information is available at www.wrtc2014.org or contact WRTC Chairman Doug
Grant, K1DG, via e-mail at k1dg at wrtc2014.org.
