[CQ-Contest] CQ WW "B league" parallel experimental contest

Hi fellow contesters,

While some are talking about unfairness between east and west coast, or is Cap Verde a better place than Aruba for winning the CQ WW, some of us who live far from populated places already know they currently have no chance to win a contest.
I don't heard many ZS, ZL, YB, CE complaining because I think we all accepted that the competition must be taken from inside our country or our zone. Even more, in my case, if I carefully choose my category, I can be "Country winner" in any contest with only 1 QSO. What do I do then? I try to beat my own results.

I'm a family-man, often (partly) working in week-ends. Should I ask for a revision of the rules and a new "Family Man" overlay? No. I do my own contest and compare my results on my operating time base.
That's one thing that lead me to create QScope, because in order to set my own goals and check my own achievements, I needed a comprehensive yet simple log analysis tool.

If CQ WW organizers don't want to change their rules (and I understand that), perhaps should we create a "parallel contest".
I am not advocating for pirating CQ WW contest, just to make some kind of "B league".
Basic exchanges would be the same, and anyone should be able to submit his log for both competitions in parallel.
However, in our "unofficial" competition (with no other reward that pride) we would have the freedom of experimenting new rules without fear of breaking past records.
And then, based on this unofficial experience, perhaps CQ WW or other contest would one day change their rules.

Is anyone interested in such a project ?
Things I like to see in the experimental rules :
- Distance related scoring (calculated from the barycenter of each CQ zone, or the most populated city in that zone) instead of continents
- Bonus points for the "rare entities" worked (+1 per QSO for each entity in the 50 rarest from Clug Lob ranking by example)
- Bonus points for the "tough bands" +3 for 160m, +2 for 80m, +1 for 10m (or like in All Asian DX)
- Ability to submit the log for several categories (SOSB 80m and SOAB by example).

I'd like to make it clear that I don't want to create a competitor to CQ WW or other contests.
I truly think Randy K5ZD and most of the other contest organizers are doing a fantastic job.
However, I do think we cannot ask them to completely change the rules from one day to another, and those would like to see new rules have to "do their homeworks" first.
I think that there is nothing to lose in such a project., except for the volunteers a little bit of time and money...

73,
Yan.
