>No Al, they are not for North America--Mexico is part of NA but it usually is not included.  I tried to participate some in the last contest but gave up because I was treated only as DX and no one outside of the U.S. and Canada would work me.  I have participated before but this year thought it might be fun to enter from Mexico because there are not that many hams in Mexico.  At least for this contest this was a mistake.  

That's Ok because it is for "NA" to work others (it is the ARRl's contest and even though I am a long-time member it is not for me to tell "them" how to run their contest!), but it was disappointing for some operators to come back that they wouldn't work me because I was not in the U.S.!  After that happened several times I gave up and just worked CW, which is not disagreeable for me!  If I had been running (not possible with all of the 1k stations) rather than S&P it might have been better but couldn't find a clear spot for a 100w station.
