I think that a lot of us will have decisions to make for WRTC 2018.
Schedule? (Russian DX, WAE at times many of are not usually contesting
competitively), Method? (Assisted vs Not Assisted), and Group Size (Single
vs Multi). Personally, at the end of the day, the decision will need to be
made by all of us, whether qualifying for WRTC is actually worth it vs the
changes that it may require for the next 2 years.
In my case, I can't accommodate the new contests in 2015 and I just don't
like assisted. So my choices and conflicts will undoubtably kill my
chances. I can see others having to make the same decisions and while some
may not care as much about assisted, they may feel strongly about being
able to participate in their favorite multi-op. Doing so in a CQ WW contest
for the next 2 years will be basically fatal to qualifying chances.
Everyone will have choices to make. I have made mine.
Since WRTC is M2 - Low Power, I fail to see why so many people are drawing
conclusions about what things are being done to qualify. WRTC qualifying
has never been connected to the competition itself.
