Both of these devices are for receive antennas only and you should still use
bandpass filters with them in a multi-transmitter environment. When running
HP, I typically just short the RX antenna when transmitting however this
only works when using a Beverage with a single radio. Yesterday I purchased
the DX Engineering RG-5000 hoping to eliminate the shorting relay.

I use the AS-RXFEP RX Front End Protector on each of my IC-7800s.

I operate my station as a SO2R, M/S or Multi-2 station. The AS-RXFEPs have
been in service since I
purchased my 2nd radio.

I am a satisfied customer with no financial interest in Array Solutions.

Putting some sort of front end protection on the rig when working out the
coupling and isolation issues is a great idea. I've never fried anything in
the last 6 years of So2r fooling about.

However, it can happen. A couple of weeks back I literally got my wires
crossed when running a test on a rig and ended up dumping 100W into my main
station rig. Fortunately replacing the ailing board was not difficult but
it was expensive.

Assuming your rig has facilities for a RX antenna, something like this is
really cheap insurance...
