[CQ-Contest] Distance Based Scoring

It's unlikely that a sucessfull contest such as CQ WW made a change so radical to the rules like to become a distance-scoring event when changes of infinitely less entity creates such a big fuzz and requires the organizers to step back from them (i.e. recording).
However recognizing that to start a new major event with a distance scoring algorithm might take years to catch up perhaps a middle ground solution can be found in the form of an overlay to the existing contest; in the same way than the CLASSIC or the TB+WIRES or the ROCKY overlays are today.
In other ways a person can compete like any other, providing her score to the rest like any other under the current set of rules; only that if applying to a DISTANCE-SCORE overlay her score can be computed based on some distance algorithm, also to compete against others in the same overlay. Just like any other overlay.
Rules should minimize the effort from the organizer to compute such things (i.e. no paper logs accepted on that overlay), the rest is just a well published known algorithm set by the organizers and few lines of code into computing the new score.
If the method catch up it might address all the complaints about field leveling; if not, well, not permanent damage will be done with the attempt; it will just fade out like the EXTREME category or other experiments in the past.
