Jeff,
Ekaterinburg (UA9C), where I live is 5000 km (3106 miles) from Vladivostok
(UA0L). Both are Asiatic Russia and therefore is zero points in CQWW.  If I
speak of UA0K (Magadan) it is even farther. You are not alone :)
