[CQ-Contest] 40/80 meter stub

HI All

I read an article about using the same 23' stub on 40 and 20 by shorting
the stub with a switch to switch bands with the stub.

I have an elevated vertical for 80 meters and I just hooked a 40 meter
vertical to the same feedpoint.

Can I do the same thing on 40/80 with a 46' stub with a switch on the end?
I already have an 80 meter stub that I was using before I added the 40
meter vertical element.   Thanks and 73
