[CQ-Contest] ARRL DX CW Contest in QST

As I am in a policy position I try to maintain a good relationship with HQ
staff as I believe that it fosters more open communication so we can fix
what is wrong.

The magazine’s de-emphasis on contest results are claimed to be based on
survey data but as I explained in NCJ this month, I don’t think that tells
the full story.

That said it is absolutely true that in general the magazine business is
dying. However with ham radio trending to an older crowd we may not die as
fast as others.

The advertising thing I’m 50/50 on. For one the ads are in a convenient
place, and I do look at them. But they are also easy to “skip.”

Sponsorship is not a bad idea. The CW proficiency certificate for example
is sponsored by Vibroplex. Do you know of any ham vendor who would be
willing to sponsor expanded results in print? I’m sure there is one out
there.

However I know there used to be expanded results articles online. Do those
still exist? It used to be nice as it also had regional breakdowns -
regional competition is good for those who aren’t in Maine or otherwise
operating from the East Coast.
