Right on, Dave!
I just came back from a week-long trip to VE2 (Zone 2). Pretty often I was CQ'ing on 80 and 160 CW for minutes without any luck, but as soon as I switched to FT8, at least 2 or 3 stations were calling at the same time...

With so many people migrating from CW/SSB to FT8, our bands appear empty to potential intruders. It's not surprising they are going to try their luck taking our frequencies.

Those who are now spending their air-time on 14.074 should understand the danger to our hobby and make sure to occupy the bottom part of the band.
