ArtYou can still do pretty decent in a domestic contest without an amplifier. DX contests can be a big struggle. My KPA500 failed and I had to do the SSB Sprint with just 100 watts. I have just had wires and lost many jump balls which was frustrating but in the end I think I did fairly well. I'm #4 in the low power high claimed scores.Since Elecraft will be closed down for awhile to repair my amp I decided now was a good time to buy another one so I would have a spare in the future.
