Hi all,

As the US Labor Day holiday comes to a close, a North American contester's
thoughts turn toward...CW Sprint! It's coming up this Saturday night (in
NA) and begins at 0000 UTC Sep 12th. This is the usual Sprint start time -
the 2300 UTC start time was only for the February and March Sprints (CW and
RTTY, resp.) in order to give participants more time on 20 meters. In
September, no time shift is necessary. Logs are due 7 days after the
contest, so be sure to send yours in on time.

One way to have more fun in the Sprints is teams. Only 5 calls are needed
for a team and registration is available on NA Sprint website (
https://ncjweb.com/north-american-sprint/). We had a record 5-member team
score set in the February edition so give it a go. This is a great way to
encourage newcomers to give Sprint a try, as well.

NA Sprint is not just a US/Canada contest, either. You can be a very
popular operator from other countries besides W and VE. We've had big
scores from XE, ZF, and around the Caribbean. (KP2 and KP4 count as
multipliers, too, being US possessions.) Even Europeans are beginning to
take note of the fast-paced activity and turning in logs that are very
welcome - thank you!

To get in a little practice, the CWT contests on Wednesday will get your
code speed up and the NS Sprint on Thursday night will help you get used to
the QSY rule. Every little bit helps to hit the ground running on Saturday
- see you then!
