To all RTTY ops:

Please join us in this week's half hour NS RTTY(North American Sprint contest, RTTY mode, sponsored by the Northern CaliforniaContest Club), Thursday evening local time (Friday 0145Z).

Last week featured many ops who usedour Thursday night event to practice for last Saturday’s highly successful NAQPRTTY.  Thanks for all of you who joinedus, and we hope to see you on a regular basis!

I did notice that a couple of these ops didn’t adhere to the special QSY rule that is a feature in all Sprints, including ours.  The next paragraph is astatement of the Sprint QSY rule, tailored to reflect the fact that our contest uses a1KHz version of the rule, as opposed to the 5 KHz version that is used in the four-hour NCJ CW and RTTY Sprints:

If any station(“X”) solicits a contact (e.g., by sending “CQ,” “QRZ?”, “QSY up 1”, or anyother means of soliciting a contact, including completion of a contact where thefrequency was inherited by X), X is permitted to make only one contact inresponse to that solicitation.  X mustthereafter move at least 1 KHz before calling another station, or at least 1kHz before soliciting another contact.  OnceX is required to QSY, X is not allowed to make another contact on the frequencythat X just vacated until or X makes at least one subsequent contact on a frequencyother than the frequency that X just vacated.

If anyone has a question about this QSY rule, please send me an e-mail, and I’ll answer you promptly.

A few entrants last week did not submit theirscores to www.3830scores.com at the end of the contest.  It’s easy – justsubmit your score to this Website for the contest “NCCC RTTY Sprint”.  Reporting your score, whether it be big orsmall, helps build enthusiasm for this event. That in turn increasesparticipation for future editions, which benefits all of us.

For those of you using the popular N1MM+ logger, the contest module to use is NSRTTYDUPE.  If you need a proven set offunction keys, let me know, and I’ll be happy to share mine with you.

Remember to try 15 meters at the beginning ofthis Thursday night's contest – 15 has often been open at 0145Z lately.
