[CQ-Contest] WRTC Scoring Question

From the rules:

In order to reduce geographical and propagation differences in sparsely populated
areas, the following Selection Areas are further divided for score comparison:

W1 – ME, NH, VT, MA, CT, RI
W2 – NY, NJ (+ 4U1UN)
W3 – PA, DE, MD, DC

There are 3 total TLs from the region but there are 3 sub qualifying areas. Seems to me a 1000 point winner is awarded to each sub area. So 3 people get 1000 points. Not 1.

I saw that and don't see how that changes anything. It says that for EU#6, there can be only one team from YU. You cant have three YU teams representing EU#6.

W is allowed multiple teams and three teams can come from the NA#1 (W) region which encompasses W1, W2, and W3. The top score from NA#1 in a given contest is THE top score in a given category from anywhere within NA#1.

If the highest score in W1 is 5 Million and the highest score in W2 is 4 Million and the highest score in W3 is 3 Million, there will be 3 people that made those highest scores earning 1,000 points - assuming they are all HP Unassisted. So instead of 1 winner of the area there are actually 3 winners of the area for every contest. And there are only 3 TL selected from the W1, W2, W3 area. Even though there could have been numerous scores much higher than the W3 score in this example, the W3 winner will get the same credit as if they had the 5 Million score.
