Last night S&Ping to give out the rare MD mult in the CQ 160 SSB before dinner, I heard this exchange (calls imaginary):
K3HAM - CQ TEST K3HAM
weak WB9 - WB9 HOTEL ALPHA MIKE
K3HAM - WB9 SOMETHING?
weak WB9 - WB9 HOTEL ALPHA MIKE HOTEL ALPHA MIKE
K3HAM - WB9HAM 59 MIKE DELTA
weak WB9 - 59 INDIANA
K3HAM - AGAIN? AGAIN?
weak WB9 - WELL, YOU ARE 59 INDIANA ITALY NOVEMBER, BUT YOU GAVE ME 59 AND YOU CAN'T COPY ME??
K3HAM - YOU KNOW, THE RULES SAY YOU HAVE TO SEND *A SIGNAL REPORT* BUT NOTHING ABOUT HOW ACCURATE IT HAS TO BE, HAVE A GOOD EVENING K3HAM
The ARRL DX contest rules do say "DX stations send a signal report and power as a number orabbreviation." and nothing about any relevance to actual power in use.
EE5E really ought to be sending 555 5 as his exchange.
