Got quite a few private replies and some here on the reflector too (tnx).
The consensus is, for a variety of reasons, it may have a slight affect on #
of Q's.nobody dared attach a % figure to it (but that's OK)

I am still deciding if I'll do it or not. When I was VC9T in WPX CW in 2016
it didn't go so well, but I may be ready to try again.

CU (one way or another) all of a sudden! in 'WPX

Subject: Unique WPX callsigns worth it ?

What are people thoughts on using a totally unique prefix in the 2 x CQWPX
contests?

Do you feel it increases your score any appreciable amount ? 5%? 10%

Not being assisted very much I have very limited experience "clicking on
spots" but I can at least imagine a scenario whereby S&Pers are only
clicking on Mults and not also regular Q's who would not have a unique
prefix...but how much, I have no idea.

Thoughts?
