[CQ-Contest] A bit of nostalgia

I became a Novice in August 1973.  Using an HW-16 running 1 watt out to 
a 40 M dipole at ~ 15' at the bottom of the sunspot cycle, DX was hard 
to come by.  But thankfully LU5HFI (K3ZO) and JH1WIX frequented the 
Novice bands back then and gave many Novices their first DX qso's.  They 
often had pileups, but persistence and learning the timing of how and 
when to call eventually paid off with qso's with both of them.

It was only 2 months after I worked Fred, LU5HFI, when I read in a NY 
Times article that he had been shot and badly wounded while in 
Argentina. Quite a shock for a 12 year old kid.

RIP my friends. Thank you for your kindness and your qso's.
