fidgeting with the DVP

When recording DVP characters (A, B, etc), how does one set the intermessage
separation to less than 8 ms?  The manual seems to suggest that it can be set
as low as 0.  But I can't make this happen under CT9.22.

I think "0" is needed if one want's smooth callsigns to be announced.
