[ct-user] Questions, questions from WI9WI

I am a new subscriber, and perhaps both my questions have been discussed
before, but here goes.

1. I purchased CT version 9.x at Dayton - I can't recall the exact version -
to upgrade from my elderly version 7.x. I run an ICOM 765 with a K1cc type
interface, and a DX Solutions automatic antenna switch interfaced with an
Ameritron relay box. This has worked very well for me with CT version 7. In
setting up for CW SS I attempted to use my new version 9, but could
absolutely not get the computer and the radio to talk to each other. After
numerous attempts at introductions, buying them drinks, etc., I finally gave
up after a couple of hours and did the contest using version 7 - which worked
fine. I loaded the COMTSR with all the seemingly correct parameters. My
computer is a Dell Latitude LX with a standard COM port - it works well in
all other applications. I key the radio with the LPT port. HELP! I'd hate to
think I wasted my money on CT 9.

2. Second question. I do about 95 % of my contesting from my cabin in Winter,
Wisconsin (which is now like it sounds), 250 miles north of my home in
Madison. Due to problems in this very rural area with local juvenile vandals
and breakins, I leave no equipment there except an amplifier which weighs 70
lbs. I figure they won't know what it is, and after getting a hernia
attempting to steal it, will leave it there. (This has worked so far through
3 breakins in the last 10 years - mostly they take fishing gear, etc.). Thus
I take my portable computer up and back each time. After a couple of abortive
attempts at 2 radio contesting in the past, when I succeeded only in
confusing myself, I am ready to try it again, if only to chase mults on a
second band. Is there any way to configure a laptop with one COM and LPT port
and a PCM slot to run 2 radios with either CT or TR. (I have TR but haven't
fired it up yet). Is there a PC card that emulates a COM2 port ? Forgive my
ignorance, but I'm only semi-literate in computers.

Thank you very much.
