[ct-user] Icom Hex addresses plus more

Many have asked, so I compiled a list of Icom Hex addresses (for those of
you who are not familiar with Hex, the number system goes from 0-9,
A,B,C,D,E,F).  

If you are attempting to get a new radio to work with older software, you
can often use a similar radio to talk to the software.  As an example, if
you need own a IC-775DSP, and want it to work with CT, or DX4Win, you can
change the Hex address of the radio in the software setup for the radio.
As an example an IC-775 (or IC-756) may work just fine if you change the
hex address to x'26'.  Then, tell your computer software you are using an
IC-781.  Most features will work fine (read frequency, set VFO, set
splits).  (DX4win allows you to make up your own radio profile).

Please make sure that the baud rate on the radio matches the baud rate on
the computer.  I've had good success leaving the baud rate in the auto
position for the radio.  If not, setting the baud rate at 4800 or 9600
should be fine in most causes without causing buffer overruns.  

Kenwood, Icom and Yaesu do not change their command set, then just tend to
add to it.  If you have a TS-570, you can also tell your software that you
are using a TS-450 and as long as the software doesn't insist on using the
ID byte from the radio, it will work.

For CT  users, there hasn't been a radio that we have NOT been able to get
to work with CT.  When the 870 was  new, we just called it an 850 or 450
and it work fine.  

The last thing is that most radio to computer interface problems are all
user error.  :-)  Either the user has a bad cable, is using the wrong com
port, hasn't got the com ports configured correctly (you cannot share
IRQ's--this is a common problem), or the radio is configured incorrectly.
